A cosmetic procedure known as a Brazilian Butt Lift or BBL for short, is a specialized fat transfer procedure that increases the size and shape of the buttocks without implants. Excess fat is removed from the hips, abdomen, lower back, or thighs with liposuction, and a portion of this fat is strategically injected into the buttocks, purifying and re-inserting it. This is a simple and very effective process. One reason many surgeons prefer fat transfer for a butt lift over implants is that your body is much less likely to reject its own cells.
The BBL procedure is usually carried out while you are under a general anesthetic, meaning that you are asleep for the duration. First, liposuction is used
to remove fat from the pre-designated area of your body. This is usually somewhere with an abundance of fat such as the hips, stomach or thighs. Once
the fat has been removed, it is purified and prepared for reinsertion into your buttocks, which is done through a series of injection. Finally, all of the incisions
are closed using sutures and left to heal.
After BBL surgery, patients are given a compression garment to wear which helps to minimize swelling and reduce any post-procedure bleeding. It can take several weeks for any swelling and bruising to subside as well as for the final result of the procedure to become clear.
